Apex Legends Valkyrie Cinematic

If you are an Apex Legends fan, you have probably seen this. Back in January, I had the privilege to work on this cinematic. It was quite a rush job because I was responsible for creating Backgrounds and Camera projection to 11 sequences in just 5 weeks. I've received a rough layout, camera, and robot animation from the client and I dropped it to Blender. My responsibility was to take those pieces of information and plus it with my painting in 3d skills.
I rendered out the temp geometry and painted it over in photoshop to get that anime look.

I also hand-painted anime-inspired HDRI (Skydome) to set the lighting for a lot of sky shots. It was also a really big time/money saver for production.

Here is the first double spread matte painting. For Titanfall fans out there you can see Angle City in the background

This long tracking shot was really tough to pull off. It does not work as a flat image to show you here because those are 3 matte paintings combine into one shot.

1. was this opening shot
2. long-ass blurred mountain painting
3. and exit matte painting. I the BG you can see the Skydome I mention before. I've added an additional cloud at the top so it stitched better with the next shot.
